Kacey Musgraves' official Middle of Nowhere cover art is now ready to hang on your wall as a fine art print. Shot by none other than Kacey's talented sister Kelly, this striking photograph took the western world by storm upon its release. Featuring Kacey standing confidently in front of a powerful bull, the image acts as a reminder to leave your past struggles behind you.

This stunning shot was captured just as you see it, in-camera on an overcast Dallas morning. After it was taken, it didn't take long for Kacey and Kelly to realize they had created something special - an image that truly encapsulates the liminal feeling of the middle of nowhere, and an image that will go down as an iconic piece of country music history.

The Story Behind the Shot

As told by Kelly Christine Sutton

Driving around and scouting spots for the shoot, I ended up gravitating to the Fair Park and Deep Ellum areas, faves of any Dallas area photographer. When I saw this huge, old, gritty textured wall, I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for the negative space we wanted for the cover. Originally, we talked about having a horse in the shot, but Kace always thinks beyond what’s easy or obvious. She imagined a bull. I didn’t spend much time wondering how we’d pull it off because whenever doubt crept in, I remembered that we always find a way. Plus, she had a bull guy, so I let her handle that part.

The bull was intimidating to look at, let alone stand by. This was not enough to scare Kace. Or if it did, she never let it show. We instantly knew we got the shot, and the rest of the day we just had fun creating together.
